My name is Sara Dexheimer, and I am currently in my sixteenth year of teaching music at Fairview. I am very lucky to teach at such a wonderful school filled with awesome students!
I was born and raised in Hannibal, Missouri - the hometown of the author Mark Twain. As a child I was very active in music. I sang at church, played the piano, participated in show choir and performed in many musicals. I always knew I would pursue a career in music, so after graduating high school I went to Northwest Missouri State University where I received my bachelor's and master's degrees in Music Education. During my teaching career, I have taken many hours of continuing education in general and music education and have earned my Orff-Schulwerk certification.
I live in Columbia with my husband Billy and daughters Elizabeth and Maggie. We also have four cats: Carlos, Walter, Simon, and Jerry and one dog, Marty. My family loves music as much as I do. Elizabeth enjoys taking piano lessons, playing the ukulele, and singing in the Grizzly Choir. She is also a member of the Southwest Sound Effects Showchoir. Maggie takes piano lessons, plays the ukulele, and loves to sing.
In my spare time I love hanging out with my family and friends. I also enjoy singing, camping, watching movies and baking (chocolate chip cookies are my favorite). My favorite color is purple, and my favorite restaurant is Flyover. I also love Olive Garden.
I look forward to many more years of teaching music at Fairview! Go Falcons!!
